Arrival and Logistics

What time should I arrive?

Registration opens at 10:30 with breakfast baps and coffee.

The shotgun start is at 12:00, so please arrive by 11:00 at the latest to allow time to register, warm up and get to your tee.

Where is the club?

The address is Berkhamsted Golf Club, The Common, Berkhamsted, HP4 2QB.

It’s less than a five minute drive or taxi from Berkhamsted train station.

Is there parking?

Yes, the main car park and overflow will accommodate everyone.

Where do I register on arrival?

In the main lounge of the clubhouse. Look for the Emery Little signage.

I’d like to stay nearby. Any recommendations?

Siobhan can recommend places to stay if you’d like to stay in the area the night before or the night of the event.

The Course and Play

What’s the format?

Two competitions running side by side:

Individual Stableford and Group Stableford (the team takes the best score on each hole).

Side competitions: Longest Drive at the 16th and Nearest the Pin at the 6th and 14th.

Do I need a handicap to play?

If you have an official handicap, please send it over to Siobhan before the day. If you don’t, an honest estimate is fine.

For scoring purposes we’ll cap handicaps at 28 for men and 36 for women.

Are buggies available?

There are no buggies available.

If you have any mobility considerations, please contact Siobhan in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate.

Are push trolleys available?

Yes. We’ve booked all eight of the club’s push trolleys for the day, available on a first come, first served basis.

Please ask ahead of time if you’d like one.

Is there food and drink on the course?

Yes, the halfway house will be open with snacks and soft drinks.

We’ll be covering the cost, so help yourself.

What happens if it rains?

The day will go ahead unless conditions become unsafe.

If we need to make any changes on the day, we’ll keep you informed.

Facilities

Can I use the practice range or putting green before play?

Yes, both are available from your arrival until we head to the tees for the shotgun start.

It’s worth noting that the range is approximately 170 yards long, so better suited to short and mid-irons than driver.

What changing facilities are available?

Standard changing rooms, showers and toilets are open throughout the day with the clubhouse.

Are towels provided?

Yes, towels will be available in the changing rooms.

What’s the dress code?

Berkhamsted’s standard dress code applies, for both the course and dinner

Dinner

What time is dinner?

Dinner and awards begin at 5pm, with drinks together afterwards.

Is there a bar?

Yes, and drinks are on us.

Can partners join for dinner only?

Yes, partners who aren’t playing are welcome for dinner.

To confirm attendance, please contact Siobhan.

Is there somewhere for dinner-only guests to freshen up?

Yes, the changing rooms will be open so non-playing guests are welcome to use them.

Can dinner-only guests access the clubhouse during the day?

Yes, the clubhouse is open all day.

Anyone joining later is welcome to come early to watch some of the play or relax in the clubhouse.

I’m joining for dinner only. Anything to do in the area beforehand?

Plenty. Siobhan can recommend things to do nearby if you’d like to arrive earlier and explore.
