From time to time, members of our team share what’s currently on their read, watch and listen lists.

Our Operations Director, Rebecca Timmins, shares her favourites.

Current reading, listening or watching

When it comes to reading, I have two on the go. I’m re-reading the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett, and also Brene Brown’s Atlas of the Heart.

You’ll find me watching whatever’s on TV for the hour or so between the kids going to bed and me turning in!

And the radio will be tuned to Radio 6 music.

I would recommend..

I’d highly recommend reading Emotional Agility by Dr Susan David and then following it up with Atlas of the Heart. I have become increasingly interested in psychology over the last few years. I like anything that helps me understand my emotional responses more fully so that I can be more thoughtfully responsive and less reactive!

I watched Feargal Keane’s documentary on PTSD on the BBC. The documentary was a fascinating insight into the impact that reporting the news (some of which I remember watching when much younger) has had on a very familiar face. The depth of the trauma that he experienced has left deep scars, and his journey to make sense of that and heal was very moving.

Finally, a fiction recommendation for A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. It was a gift and not something I would have chosen for myself, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.  It had a gentle pace, and was still really compelling. The character development was beautiful and the story just kept evolving. A really wonderful book.
