I started my career working in pensions administration dealing with large final salary schemes. I made the move into financial advice in 2015. Since then, I’ve worked for a number of companies – all with different specialisms – and have expanded my knowledge across all areas of financial planning.
I have been lucky to work in a variety of roles in financial planning during my career, which has led me into Operations. I love how different parts of the business come together to achieve great outcomes for our clients. I like to understand how things work and like to try and help make any improvements or efficiencies for the team.
The area of financial planning that really sparks my interest is responsible or sustainable investing, often referred to as Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) investing and I’ve achieved the CFA UK Certificate in ESG Investing.
At Emery Little, I’m responsible for helping make sure that the business is running smoothly and efficiently. This includes areas such as finance, HR, compliance and processes, alongside working on bigger projects. I like that no two days are the same and I can get involved in most parts of the business alongside, working with many of the team.
I love creating memories with friends and family. From travelling abroad, to trying a new restaurant or hosting at our house, I always welcome new opportunities to spend time with those I cherish.
Helping others is really important to me. I volunteer for two charities local to me which both help families in need. One collects and redistributes food and the second charity helps provide things that people may need such as furniture or clothing.
People are often curious about my surname – Abplanalp. It’s a Swiss name and it means (ab) from Planalp. Planalp is a beautiful village in the Alps, near Brienz. Should you ever want to visit, I’d recommend taking the steam train up the mountain, and save the walk for the downhill leg of the journey!
