Meet the Experts: Behind the Scenes at Emery Little

We’re aware that a lot of the time, the person whom you as a client come into regular contact with at Emery Little is your financial planner; the personal face of your investment plans and aspirations. But behind this knowledgeable face is a whole team of other specialists, applying their expertise and experience to inform, manage and support your financial plans.

We feel we want you to ‘meet’ these people and give you a sense of Emery Little as a whole.

So let us introduce Siobhan Peirce, Business Administrator and Systems Development Manager here at Emery Little.

Over to you, Siobhan…

My first ever “job” was a bouncy castle supervisor at Whipsnade Zoo! It sounds exciting but I was actually the girl no one liked as I had to tell people when their time was up! This was a seasonal job that I took up during summer holidays and as I finished school I decided that I had developed a taste for earning my own money and started looking for job opportunities.

My confidence was extremely low so I took part in an NVQ course with the Princes Trust which then led to me finding my first “proper” job as an administrator at an electric and plumbing company. I was with this company for 4 years in which my role progressed into Site Temporary Co-ordinator – where I managed a team of electricians and plumbers and diarised their work each week as well as sourced materials for them and keyed on their worksheets.

I liked the role but wanted to work in a different environment so I plucked up the courage to upload my CV to a recruitment site - looking for any administrative role I could find. It just so happened that Emery Little spotted me and contacted me for a telephone interview – which I did while sat in a McDonalds car park! The rest is history!

I’m the Business Administrator and Systems Development Manager here at Emery Little. With my Business Administration hat on, I’m responsible for processing and implementing clients’ recommendations as well as maintaining their records and reviews. As Systems Development Manager, I get to release my inner nerd and research opportunities for improvement and ensuring our systems and processes are reaching their full potential.

I enjoy the contact I have with clients, especially when I can occasionally sit in on meetings and hear about their lives. My roles give me a lot of variety and  no day is ever the same. I have learnt a lot over the years that I have worked in business administration and am excited to see what more I learn from my new systems development management responsibilities.

What motivates me? Well, I like to help wherever I can and believe that over the years I have been able to build a rapport with many of our clients through my experiences of implementing their investments and being on hand to answer their queries.

When not working…

Before Covid my time away from work was very calm. There was a time where my weekends involved a lot of sofa time and horror movie marathons.

However, over the last two years, a lot of things have changed in my “out of work” life. I have a 2 year old son now. With him around the chances of ever doing “not a lot” again, are very thin.

Thanks to lockdown I have developed a new passion for cooking. This was an extension of my love of eating out. I am constantly on the hunt for new and exciting places to broaden my culinary horizons.

On the 4th June 2020, I went for my first ever run which was around 2K and no fun at all. But that didn’t put me off too much and on the 9th October 2021 my husband and I completed a 10K run for Cancer Research, so I guess running might be my “thing” now?! I can't let the opportunity pass to encourage you to donate or retrospectively sponsor my run with proceeds to Cancer Research. Here's my fundraising page. Thank you.

I am incredibly proud of my little family; my husband Tom and son Lucas bring me so much joy and make every day worthwhile. Add to that our two rabbits (Slash and Lexxi) and we have  a pretty lively household. I wouldn’t have it any other way!
