We’re aware that a lot of the time, the person whom you as a client come into regular contact with at Emery Little is your financial planner; the personal face of your investment plans and aspirations. But behind this knowledgeable face is a whole team of other specialists, applying their expertise and experience to inform, manage and support your financial plans. We feel we want you to ‘meet’ these people and give you a sense of Emery Little as a whole.
We would like to introduce one of our longest serving team members, Amanda Yates (also known as Mandy), our Lead Client PA. Chances are you already know her very well but let’s see if we can surprise you.
Over to you, Mandy…
Just before joining Emery Little, I’d taken 6 months away from work to concentrate on my family and for a little ‘me’ time. I can honestly say I’ve never been fitter, well and truly catching the gym bug. As my 6 months came to an end, I spotted a small advert in the local paper for a Personal Assistant at an IFA firm in Gaddesden Row. While the job sounded interesting, it was my curiosity about this business in Gaddesden Row that enticed me to apply as I knew the area well. I remember turning up for my interview at the chapel and immediately falling in love with it and its beautiful surroundings. I met Rebecca and her colleague Niki and they must have liked me because 17 years later, I’m still here.
I am the Lead Client PA at Emery Little, supporting many of the Financial Planning team and I’m also responsible for the support and development of my fellow Client PA, Jo Hammond.
I spend a lot of my time working with and helping clients and I really enjoy getting to know both them and my colleagues better. My role offers a lot of variety so I am never bored and I’m always working on new challenges with my colleagues.
I am always aiming to deliver a first-class service and knowing my contribution makes a difference is important to me. I get great satisfaction from providing sound help, guidance and assistance.
I like to think of my role as the ‘go to’ for both clients and my colleagues – a vital link. Building a strong relationship with clients gives me a great sense of warmth and happiness. As well as the professional aspect of the relationship, there’s something rewarding about receiving an email from a client about an event in their life, like a new arrival.
I love nature and the countryside and I don’t know what I would have done without it in recent times. Whether it’s walking with Willow, my (very cute) border terrier, or gardening with my partner Adrian, being outside makes me happy. This even extends to getting out for a short run in the morning.
Spending time with my granddaughter, Ayla, is another of my delights. We especially enjoy our baking competitions and Adrian doesn’t complain when he has to judge them.
Speaking of Adrian, we are very lucky to live together in a beautiful Grade II listed cottage which we enjoy giving our constant attention. My son, Joe, is now 25 and Adrian’s daughter, Molly 18! How did that time pass so quickly? I can’t tell you how proud I am to see their lives blossom in so many ways.
