Welcome to issue 52 of ‘Little Thoughts’.
That makes two full years of ‘Little Thoughts’ – something we’re genuinely proud of achieving.
This week’s ‘Little Thoughts’ is something very different. We’re sharing a documentary that I think many of you will find very interesting. Our clients will know and recognise Dimensional Fund Advisors as a key component of our True Wealth investment portfolios.
In Dimensional’s wisdom, they’ve teamed up with Academy Award-winning filmmaker Errol Morris (The Fog of War, The Thin Blue Line) to create this excellent documentary called Tune Out the Noise. The film chronicles a group of academics at the University of Chicago in the 1960s whose groundbreaking research challenged Wall Street’s status quo and was used by firms like Dimensional Fund Advisors to disrupt traditional methods of investing, ultimately reshaping the way the world views markets.
We were lucky enough to have a special cinema screening of this documentary earlier this year and it’s a fascinating and brilliant watch. Not just for those of us interested in investments and the stock market, but for anyone who likes documentaries and learning new things.
If, like me, the combination of running a business and raising a toddler means you can’t watch anything longer than 30 minutes without falling asleep, then we’re thinking of doing a private cinema showing of the documentary at some point in 2026. If this is something you’d like to attend or would be interested in, please let us know and maybe don’t watch the documentary this time. For those keen to see the brains and work behind your Emery Little True Wealth portfolios from the luxury of your own home, please set aside 90 minutes for Tune Out the Noise.
