We’re aware that a lot of the time, the person whom you as a client come into regular contact with at Emery Little is your financial planner; the personal face of your investment plans and aspirations. But behind this knowledgeable face is a whole team of other specialists, applying their expertise and experience to inform, manage and support your financial plans.
We feel we want you to ‘meet’ these people and give you a sense of Emery Little as a whole.
So let us introduce Oscar Ward, Paraplanner at Emery Little.
Over to you, Oscar…
In 2011, I graduated from Cardiff University with a psychology degree but, rather than pursuing a career in that line, I completely changed course and took a job as a financial administrator at Canada Life.
Three years later and with a good grounding in financial services, I decided the time was right to see what else the world of finance had to offer. After some searching, I applied for a job as a trainee Paraplanner at Emery Little. Even though I didn’t have all the necessary qualifications, they obviously saw something in me that they liked and offered me the role.
Jump ahead 7 years, and I’m still part of the Paraplanning team, and was recently appointed ‘Vice Captain’ to Satu, our team leader.
Day to day, I work closely with our Financial Planners, carrying out technical research and writing recommendation reports for our clients. I also work with our Administrators to ensure that recommendations are smoothly implemented.
I’m often present at clients’ annual review meetings. I like to think that this means our clients have another ‘face’ at Emery Little that they feel comfortable turning to if they ever need help. For me, meeting our clients gives me a greater connection to the work I do for them behind the scenes.
As for the wider team at Emery Little, I feel it may be a rare thing to be able to say that you love and appreciate every single person you work with, but luckily that is the case for me! They’re a great bunch of people to work with.
However, they’re not the only people to make a difference in my life.
Since February of this year (2021), my beautiful wife, Emily and I have been raising our beautiful son, Harvey.
On the odd days off from being a dad, I love going for dinner and/or a pint with friends and family. Every now and then I like to catch up with what’s new at the cinema and Emily (patiently) allows me to chew her ear off about it afterwards.
Ultimately, I just love experiencing life with those closest to me and will rarely say no to any offers that come my way!
